The Head of Commercial Contracts will be critical to the successful growth of the Dental Health Services business unit and in driving the commercial contracting within our business. This role is responsible for driving the implementation of the contracting model and the analysis, negotiations and outcomes relating to all commercial and independent contract arrangements.

Priorities for the role include the review and negotiation of existing and new Services Agreement Contracts, building strategic relationships and exploring and identifying associated optimisation opportunities.

This role is available to be based in Lane Cove, New South Wales or Melbourne, Victoria.

About the role:

  • Leading contracting negotiations with current and prospective Dental Clinicians and other related third parties, to deliver favourable commercial outcomes for the business aligned to plans and business forecasts
  • Manage, guide and mentor a team of negotiators, administrators, and analysts to support the contracting needs of the business in support of the strategic and operational requirements
  • Manage and govern the contracting processes to ensure collaboration and alignment with other parts of the business and to ensure a robust and compliant process with appropriate visibility, approvals, and controls to satisfy Bupa requirements
  • Establishing and maintaining a performance reporting framework for contractual and internal reporting obligations
  • Working closely with functional heads and finance business partners to optimise financial performance of current commercial arrangements and explore additional opportunities
  • Creating compelling commercial propositions for investment and strategic decision-making
  • Ensuring Bupa Dental Corporation meets contractual obligations and service level requirements, primary contact for key commercial partners regarding obligations and service delivery requirements
  • Monitoring government legislation changes, competitor activity and national/international health and wellness trends to identify opportunities and actions to deliver increased earnings and revenue
  • Legal and regulatory compliance and adherence to internal operating procedures as applicable
  • Build cohesive and effective cross-functional working relationships across the Bupa ANZ Market Unit and the Bupa Dental Corporation network

About you:

You will relish the opportunity for deep involvement in the Dental Health Services business, from close partnership with commercial leadership on creating growth strategy to hands on involvement in contract negotiation processes.

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, contract law or a related discipline, with post-graduate qualification strongly preferred e.g. MBA and relevant professional associations & memberships (such as ACA, CPA)
  • Demonstrated ability as a Senior leader (10+ years) within a complex commercial environment
  • A strong influencer, with the ability to gain alignment and commitment through persuasive action with both internal and external stakeholders
  • An extremely high level of financial and commercial capability, with proven experience in applying financial and operational performance frameworks to drive successful business outcomes and contractual obligations
  • Excellent business acumen, with knowledge of current and future trends (ideally within the healthcare sector)
  • Sound negotiation skills and an understanding of the processes involved in good negotiations
  • Ability to identify and synthesise complex legal, technical, and business considerations to negotiate and deliver commercial contracts with clear business value
  • Confirmed ability to think and act strategically with strong experience in business planning and implementation
  • Effective leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to role model the Bupa values

While an in-depth understanding of the Dental / Healthcare environment would be a strong advantage, relevant experience in a comparable complex business environment will also be considered.
